Rich Beyond Measure defines the best things in life that are cannot be measured by money — like my wife, children, grandchildren, and dogs. Like my family, West Virginia, its high school athletics and fans hold a special place for me.

As a fulltime sportswriter (1989-2015), I focused on plays and strategies, particularly in basketball, picking the brain of as many coaches as I could and absorbing much information that I have implemented as a youth, AAU, and high school basketball coach.
I have covered the NFL, MLB, and PGA Tour and interviewed Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Patrick Reed, hung out with Lee Trevino, and walked a practice round with Charles Howell III.
My “Best of West Virginia” (I’ve seen in person)
Baseball
Hitter — Jedd Gyorko, University; Up the middle — Trey Dawson, Hurricane (shortstop); Anthony Whittington, Buffalo (pitcher); Corey Bird, Herbert Hoover (centerfielder); Teddy Payne, Hurricane (catcher).
Football
J.R. House, Nitro (quarterback); Eddie Drummond, Linsly (running back); Darrion Scott, Capital (linebacker); Ricky Sherrod, Capital (DB); Randy Moss, DuPont (wide receiver)
My prime brush with greatness was 1997 at Three Rivers Stadium when Deion Sanders shamed me into leaving the Cincinnati Reds clubhouse.
